Reflections on New Farm (2008), a local history compiled by the late Gloria Grant & Gerard Benjamin about one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs, is still a local best-selling book after more than three years. From interviewing long-time residents to writing the historical narrative, to taking photographs and designing the book, this project drew on Gloria and Gerard’s combined experience of more than 75 years in editing, writing and pre-press.
The fact that Reflections on New Farm has sold more than 2,000 copies, is still regularly in the Top Ten Sellers at New Farm’s Mary Ryan bookshop and is into its first reprint, testify to a well-produced local history book that has caught the imagination of the many who have an affectionate connection with New Farm.
